Being and Doing

Feel the part of you that is like an eagle poised for flight.  Feel the part of you that is like a tiger ready to pounce.  In Chinese medicine terms, you are feeling your qi.

Feel the part of yourself that is like a bird at home in its nest, easily resting. Feel the part of you that is like a well-fed tiger with nowhere to go and nothing to do. In Chinese medicine terms, you are feeling your blood.

Qi is doing; blood is being. Qi is how the present moves into the future; blood is how the past remains present, as memory, within our skin. Qi extends beyond our skin, into the world around us, engaging us beyond ourselves. Blood is the richness of our inner world, felt as part of our living presence but never seen directly.

Balancing qi and blood in ourselves is an important part of being in our bodies, richly and fully.
